JSC "Russian Space Systems" System Monitoring and Mission Control R&D Center (SMMC R&DC) performs operations on creation and implementation of automated systems for railroad and automobile hazardous and valuable freight monitoring using space navigation systems GLONASS, GLONASS/GPS, search and rescue system COSPAS-SARSAT, satellite communication and data transmission system “Gonets”, Earth's remote sensing, as well as high precision monitoring of engineering structures displacement.
SMMC R&DC is the head body of Russian space agency in matters of implementation of “Concept of Federal monitoring system of critically important and potentially hazardous Russian Federation infrastructure facilities and hazardous freight” (FSM KVO i OG) approved by the RF Government Edict 1314-r dated August 27th 2005, development and deployment of FSM KVO i OG, as well as providing operator services utilizing this system to different users.
Primary projects:
- Development of technical means and technologies for integrated information-navigation support and monitoring for Russia's regions (in part of creating Roskosmos critically important and potentially hazardous facilities and hazardous freight industrial monitoring system);
- Development and implementation of pilot projects of regional systems of monitoring and condition forecasting of critically important facilities posing a potential hazard as accident and technogenic disaster sources;
- Creation of regional automated system of monitoring of critically important and/or potentially hazardous facilities and freight (2007) within the scope of oblast “Utilization of space activity results and modern geoinformation technologies to accelerate socio-economic development and competitiveness of Kaluga oblast (2007–2009)” special purpose program;
