ERS satellite imagery is used in many industries – agriculture, geological and hydrological surveys, forestry, environmental protection, land planning, for educational, reconnaissance and military purposes.

Space ERS systems allow collection of necessary data from large areas, including remote or dangerous territories.

Reception, recording, processing, archiving, cataloguing and dissemination of information of Russian and foreign ERS satellites is performed by ОАО "Rossiyskie kosmicheskie sistemy" Scientific center for Earth's real-time monitoring.

ОАО "Rossiyskie kosmicheskie sistemy" is the head body of Russian space agency in matters of reception, processing and dissemination of Earth's remote sensing information. Scientific center for Earth's real-time monitoring (SC ERM) performs planning, reception, processing and dissemination of space information ground-based complex function for Russian Federal space agency.
