21 December 2010 in Moscow in Roskosmos's NC OMZ (Scientific center for Earth's real-time monitoring) the official opening ceremony of Russian geoportal opening was held. At the moment, it has just a “Roskosmos's geoportal” working name.

Due to obvious innovation potential present, new web resource can become not only an important source of information about space imagery within Russia but also offer unique and sought after content to foreign users.

And now we present to our readers a photo coverage of the opening ceremony.

NC OMZ space imagery planning room. At the background are information control panels of “Resurs-DK” and “Meteor-M1” ERS crafts. At the front is the development test bed for advanced Rissian “Canopus” series crafts planning and control complex. First of these crafts is scheduled to launch in 2011. 
The complex is based on a yet relatively unknown outside specialists circle Russian development, “Neoglobus” VNIIEM portal (indicated by an arrow).

Control of crafts in orbit is performed without interruption and did not stop during the opening ceremony.
At the moment of geoportal opening, “Resurs-DK” spacecraft was passing over North America in the vicinity of USA–Canada border.
